General Hospital
Highlights
Spinelli (a) speaking normally; (b) making sense; (c) disagreeing with Jason instead of pandering; (d) praising the police; (e) pointing out that Jason is not a detective no matter how much we’d prefer it if he ditched Mob Follies and became one; and (f) being right.
Alexis and Sonny.
Lowlights
Kate, Kate, Kate. I am losing respect for you. I knew I would eventually, but did it have to be with such childish behaviour?
Sam’s evolution towards finally confronting someone, anyone, about something, sometime. First she turns the passive aggressive shuffle in the direction of Amelia, and then she wah, wah, whas to her daughter’s grave about having no one to talk too when in fact she has many people to talk too, she just refuses to do it. At the very least I’m pretty sure I see her mother listed up there under the limited highlights. Then she tests out her new found resolve by throwing her limited weight around in confronting the desk sergeant – conveniently remembering the mother she had forgotten moments before, I note – before finally, finally, spitting out her knowledge of Jake’s paternity while Jason was in the room. You could have knocked me over with a feather, given all previously indications were that she was completely incapable of any such thing. Of course, I can just sense she’s going to return to her old ways pretty damn quick given that it’s rather obvious that Jason doesn’t give a stuff.
Internal Conflicts For Me
Oh, dear, there Carly goes again being right. This is simply unfair. And yet, Jax has indeed lost the ability to reason, and he did indeed lose it right around the time he said Jerry shot Robin to wound not kill, and so, again, Carly is right and I am soooo conflicted.
However, things do manage to reach some equilibrium because of…you know where I’m going here, don’t you?…yes, because of this:

They’re actually taunting us now, aren’t they?

I’ve been having the same problem with Carly. I’ve been agreeing with her lately, and that’s just a completely new feeling for me. Fortunately, I saw the writing on the wall yesterday, and now think it will be no time at all before she’s back to making her usual completely idiotic life decisions.
Oh, and I also found myself agreeing with Sonny for the first time in, like, forever. He told Spinelli to speak English. More than once. And used his gangster abilities to make it happen. If we have to have mobsters, at least they are good for something.
So, I actually liked Sonny and Carly in the same month!!
It’s scary, isn’t it.
And was it also wrong of me to have had the momentary thought that it could have been fun if Kate had mistaken Alexis’s visit to Sonny at the coffee house as a tryst and thought Sonny was involved with her, with all that could spin out of that? There could be actual comedy in that, but I feel bad for having even had the thought because it would be throwing Alexis back into that orbit again. It’s just that I had a momentary flash of what GH ten years ago could have done with the actual comedy and wit that could be involved in Sonny being surrounded by four smart, spine-filled women – Alexis, Kate, Amelia and Diane – with some farce involving sexual politics and misunderstanding thrown in. Plus, could you imagine the anti-Carly snarking.
Hey Zara – welcome back – hope your trip was great
this has NOTHING to do with the above (although, as usual I completely agree)
but for the time when you totally catch up – I want to draw your attention to the pantie-dropping response Ms. Sneed had towards Noah on the 7/5 epi – it was just amazing…between that and the twinkle in RS’s eye lately – I’m a grinning fool!
Here’s hoping that tptb treat Eli Love with a bit more care then they did for the Markham Island “caper”.
